Checking in with my word of the year: Rest.
May is historically the busiest and hardest month of the year for me. Which means it is also the month I need to be extremely intentional about sticking to my goal of “rest.”
The quote I’m using this month is:
Over the next 3 weeks I have the 3 biggest events of my year, plus 2 huge concerts and a big end of year field trip….and I also want to make sure my family receives the best of me and not what’s left of me. Oh, and on top of that, I need to make sure I take care of myself because…
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
So, a calm mind is what is going to get me through this month. I am taking it one day at a time, one hour at a time. Focusing on the present.
How the heck am I going to have a calm mind though?!?!
Well, I’ll make some commitments to myself. This month I commit to the following:(which means you get to hold me accountable!)
- Planning my day the night before so I feel prepared
- Ensuring the present moment receives 100% of my attention
- Getting at least 7 hours of sleep a night
- Waking up at least 20 minutes before the kids so I can get my personal study time in each day
